Genetic Abnormalities in Extramedullary Multiple Myeloma

چکیده
Extramedullary multiple myeloma (or extramedullary disease, EMD) is an aggressive form of (MM) that occurs when malignant plasma cells become independent the bone marrow microenvironment. This may occur alongside MM diagnosis or in later stages relapse and confers extremely poor prognosis. In era novel agents anti-myeloma therapies, incidence EMD increasing, making this a more prevalent challenging cohort patients. Therefore, understanding underlying mechanisms escape driver events increasingly urgent. The role genomics has been studied extensively; however, much less known about genetic background EMD. Recently there increased focus on for establishment distant sites. Generally, high-risk cytogenetic abnormalities gene signatures are associated with EMD, mutations RAS signalling pathways. More recently, changes epigenetic regulation have also documented, specifically hypermethylation DNA promoter regions. review to summarize discuss what currently MM.

Extramedullary involvement in multiple myeloma.
M ultiple myeloma (MM) is characterized by a proliferation of malignant plasma cells with strong dependence on the bone marrow (BM) microenvironment. In fact, MM is considered the prototype of cancer in which the malignant cells interact with the microenvironment. 1,2 It has recently been shown that virtually all cases of MM are preceded by a monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (...

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a neoplastic proliferation of a single clone of plasma cells producing a monoclonal immunoglobulin. Active MM is defined by the presence of an M-protein in the serum or urine, plasma cell infiltration of the bone marrow (at least 10%), and the presence of related tissue or organ impairment. The latter can be remembered by the acronym CRAB: C is elevated calcium, R is re...

Myelomatous plasma cells show a high heterogeneity both in their immunophenotypic characteristics as well as in their cytogenetic features. Thus far, no extensive studies have been carried out to explore whether such antigenic diversity is associated with specific genetic characteristics. We have investigated the relationship between the immunophenotypic profile at plasma cell and both their DN...
